Remember Your Creator
AUTHOR: PASTOR GILBERT APPIAH
“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, I find no pleasure in them”— Eccl. 12:1
Miriam Webster dictionary defines youth as the time of life when one is young; especially the period between childhood and maturity.
It is the prime time of life. It is time of energy, potential and purpose.
In Stephen Kwaka book “Youth with a Purpose” he said “the budding and fledgling youth of today constitutes both potential and hazard”.
The bible compares the youthful stage to an arrow. “As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate”. (Ps. 127:4-5)
An arrow in our generation can be compared to a bullet, which has ability to shoot anything down. The bible says happy is the man that has his quiver full of them. This implies that whoever can have the attention of the youth wins the battle. No wonder both the devil and God seeks the attention of the youth. The youth in the hands of the devil can be used to cause destruction to nations, kingdoms and country. It is not surprising the Boko Haram’s, Al Qaeda’s and Isis are all recruiting the youth, because a sophisticated weapon without a youth to operate is like a car without fuel, it is meaningless. It is also evident seeing all advertising companies in the world using the youth to sell their product from alcoholic beverages, telecommunications and industries.
On the other hand the youth in the hands of God is an instrument for transformation, development and hope to nations, kingdom and country. An example is Joseph, David and Daniel.
In view of this the enemy has provided a bait to the youth which are pleasure of sex, alcohol, football betting, quick money, luxury, fame etc. to entice them to destruction. Scripture say; Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions, is not from the father but of the world. 17 and the world passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (John 1:15-17)
Many that took this bait have fallen into various destruction like depression, sorrow, pain, anxiety, sickness, regret and even death. They did not know that to every choice you make there is an automatic consequence.
This is the reason the bible admonishes all youth to remember their creator in the days of their youth. Because the pleasures and lust in this youthful stage do not last forever. Mistakes, decisions and choices made are not revisable. They leave everlasting scars on your body and irreparable damage.
You must remember your creator (God) and invest all your youthful days in his service.
Don’t say I want to enjoy small, remember tomorrow might be too late. Entrust your life unto Jesus and he would give you eternal life and make your youthful days resourceful, impactful and significant.
Apostle Paul said; redeem the time, because the days are evil. (Eph.5:16-18).
